There were a total of 85 sales in November 2009 in the Canton GA real estate market (up from 76 the previous month). The average selling price for that period was $217,242 and the median selling price was $205,000. The Average Days on Market for homes sold during the month were 137, compared to 100 the previous month. 189 homes were listed in the Canton GA real estate market during the month.

CANTON The City
Founded in 1832, The founders of Canton attempted to establish silk production but failed; however, the city is named after the city in China. Canton evolved from unsettled territory to a prosperous mill town known the world over in the nearly 19th century for its "Canton Denim." The population was 9,000 at the 2000 census. In 2005, Canton was the fastest growing city in Georgia and the 5th fastest growing city (10,000 or more population) in the United States. The city is the county seat for Cherokee County and had an estimated population of 21,464 in 2007. The median age in 2007 was 31 years and the estimated median household income was $40,288. Recreation The city of Canton operates 7 parks plus an 18-hole championship golf course. It partnered with the YMCA of Greater Atlanta in creating a community center adjoining Heritage Park near downtown Canton. The city funded the construction of the facility through impact fees, and the YMCA now programs the facility. The programs offered at the YMCA are tools used to accomplish the mission and achieve the vision of building strong kids, strong families, strong communities. Programs include membership, wellness, group exercise classes, strength training, cardiovascular training, teen programs, youth activities, and day camp, aquatics, sports, volunteering, fund raising, and seniors activities. Every program is designed to reinforce the four YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. |
